Red Dragon is the only yoga studio in Marin County offering a combined program of Bikram Yoga and Power Yoga. New and longtime students progress at their own levels in each class under the supervision of our certified yoga instructors. Classes are 90 minutes long unless otherwise noted.

Following is a brief description of each of the two yoga class styles we offer. Students sometimes find that one style suits them better, though most enjoy the benefits of integrating both yoga styles into their regular practice.  Together, Bikram Yoga and Power Yoga constitute a comprehensive whole-body conditioning and toning system

Bikram Yoga

Bikram Yoga is often referred to as “hot yoga” because the series of 26 yoga postures and 2 breathing exercises are done in a room heated to 105 degrees. The heat warms joints, muscles and ligaments to promote maximum flexibility while preventing injury. It also increases the heart rate, detoxifies the body through sweating and moves fresh, oxygenated blood through your entire body.

Your instructor will support and encourage you to hold each pose to your own degree, making this system ideal for beginners as well as more experienced yogis.

Bikram postures work together to put the body back on track and in balance. Regular practice of this series of postures can result in the healing and repair of injuries and illnesses, weight loss, and peace of mind.

Bikram Yoga systematically moves fresh, oxygenated blood to your entire body, restoring all systems to healthy working order, just as nature intended. Proper weight, muscle tone, vibrant good health, and a sense of well-being will automatically follow.

Power Yoga

Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga was added to the Red Dragon program as a complementary practice to Bikram Yoga and has quickly grown in popularity with students of all levels.

Like Bikram Yoga, Power Yoga is also done in a heated room. Characterized by rigorous, continuous flowing movements and postures, Power Yoga is a challenging, athletic form of yoga that builds strength, flexibility and endurance. It can be easily modified for any body type or level of ability. For more information on Baron Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga visit http://www.baronbaptiste.com.

Classes are primarily based on the Baron Baptiste style of Power Yoga, which is comprised of a systematized sequence of Vinyasa poses that are linked together by breath. Many of our instructors have also studied with other master teachers and bring a variety of influences into their Power Yoga classes. Unlike Bikram Yoga, this series differs from class to class and teacher to teacher, but can be easily modified for any body type or level of ability.
